Pensacola Caregiver is Inscoe Legacy of Love Recipient

Becky Luntsford of Pensacola, Florida, has been named the second annual recipient of the Inscoe Legacy of Love care partner recognition, in appreciation for her care of her husband, Benny.

Becky and Benny were childhood sweethearts who took different paths early on, but found their way back to each other later in life. Their reunion was full of joy, companionship, shared purpose – and devotion.

The Luntsfords had been married about 10 years when Becky started noticing changes in Benny. Two years later, at age 61, he was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer’s.

Becky stepped up to the challenge—not just as Benny’s wife, but as his unwavering caregiver, advocate, and protector. When Benny could no longer work, Becky became the sole provider, selling their home and relocating to a smaller one to be closer to family. Becky returned to work after retiring to help with the sudden loss of their only income.

Becky’s compassion extends far beyond her home, however. She quickly became a leader within the Alzheimer’s community, supporting other caregivers and families navigating similar struggles. Together, Becky and Benny became national advocates, traveling across the country to raise awareness and push for advancements in Alzheimer’s research. Their story—of devotion, heartbreak, and hope—has inspired countless others.

Becky’s impact became even more tangible in 2024 when she joined the planning committee for the Respite for All Foundation, helping to bring much-needed support to her local community in Northwest Florida. She was instrumental in establishing First Church Respite Ministry, which launched that same year at First United Methodist in Pensacola.

In the face of profound personal loss, Becky helped build a respite ministry rooted in care, dignity, and love, and she has continued her service to Respite by serving on the advisory committee and going out into the community to spread awareness.

Becky’s journey is one of strength and sacrifice, but also of joy, humor, and fierce determination. The love she has shared with Benny has been multiplied many times over to care partners in her community, and she has become a beacon for so many others walking the same difficult road.

We are honored to recognize her with Inscoe Legacy of Love.
