RFA Hosts Brain Science Luncheon
The Respite for All Foundation hosted its inaugural Brain Science Luncheon on October 26, with more than 250 people joining the event at the Alabama Activity Center in downtown Montgomery to hear keynote speaker, David S. Geldmacher, M.D., FACP.
Dr. Geldmacher, a professor of neurology widely respected in the field of memory disorders, leads the UAB Memory Disorder Clinic which focuses on the interdisciplinary care of people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. He serves as the Warren Family Endowed Chair in Neurology and Director of the Division of Memory Disorders and Behavioral Neurology in the Department of Neurology at the UAB School of Medicine.
RFA plans to bring in a noted national expert every year—both to spread the message of Respite for All in addition to providing valuable information about brain health to the community. As Daphne Johnston said, “The Alabama Activity Center was packed with urgency and great passion for more dementia education. It was also full of love and support for spreading our dear Respite volunteer model of care around the country.”
